WACH  Committee

The WATCH Committee (Working All Together Caring & Helping through the Cross) was set up by the Kirk Session in 1991 with the specific remit to support and raise awareness of local charities. Since then the committee has raised funds for many local causes including:

Capability Scotland                             Richmond’s Hope

Cystic Fibrosis                                     Disability Snowsport UK

Down’s Syndrome                               The Yard Adventure Centre

Motor Neurone Disease                       Erskine Edinburgh Home

Parkinson’s Disease                            Teenage Cancer Trust

Rock Trust                                             Hearing Dogs for Deaf People

Fresh Start                                            Clowndoctors

The charity chosen by the WATCH Committee for 2018 was Alzheimer Scotland based at the Prentice Centre in Granton (Scottish Charity SC022315). We agreed to donate all funds raised in 2018 to the charity and we expect our donation to be used to provide training for volunteers.

Alzheimer Scotland provides a service to individuals with a diagnosis of dementia and their families and carers. They offer information and advice, family outreach support, carer support and education, day centre opportunities, befriending and community activities.

At the service on Sunday 13th January 2019 we were delighted to present a cheque for £8,470 to Sally Davidson, Community Fundraiser, Alzheimer Scotland in front of the congregation.
