Watch Committee

WACH  Committee

Working All Together Caring & Helping through the Cross

The Watch Committee was set up by the Kirk Session in 1992 with a remit to raise money and awareness of local charities.  The committee is made up from members of our church who wish to be part of a team.

Each year the committee members will put forward suggestions of a charity and after discussion a decision is made within the as to which charity we will support for the coming year.  Our decision is then referred to the Kirk Session requesting formal go consent, to raise funds for said charity during the last six months of the year (July to December)

Our most recent Charity was HOPSCOTCH, a children's charity based in Silverknowes which provides respite holidays for children who are carers.  These child carers are referred to HOPSCOTCH by the social work department in order that care can be provided while the child has a much needed respite break.

With the help of church members and the local community the WATCH committee were delighted to donate £10,000.00 in January 2024 to Hopscotch to support their amazing work.

Our charity for 2024 is ..... Blood Cancer UK

This we think is a very important charity, they support the research which is based in Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow.  They also provide support for those who have diagnoses of the very many types of Blood Cancer, from their base in Anderson Street in Leith.

Our Coin collection which started in July has been very successful.  The next part of our programme is a Craft Coffee Morning on Saturday 5th October and followed by our Christmas Fair on Saturday 7th December.

During the summer months, we have been gathering together photos of our Furry (some not so furry) Friends to make into a Calendar which will be on sale at the Coffee Morning.  We hope to preview this in Church and orders can be taken.

If anyone would like to be involved with the events please do not hesitate to get in touch
