Music @ St Columba’s is the branding we have used over the past seven years. We encourage a wide variety of musical styles to give a concert on Saturday evenings. The performers usually have a Christian background or else have come through a previous Christian performer. We have had solo pianists, string quartets, choirs, a Gospel rock band and folk singers. If you have not been to church for a while or attend another church, you are very welcome to come and join what is always an interesting musical evening. Refreshments are served and donations, rather than ticket sales, are requested to cover the costs of the performers.
22nd March 19.00 The Heart and Soul Swing Band will play a variety of songs from gospel, blues and some original compositions in a Big Band style. If your feet are not tapping you might well be dead!
30th August 19.00 The Hakuna Matata Children’s Choir from Kenya will bring a sense of joy and fun with their dancing and singing in a style that only kids from the African continent can bring. Many are orphans and you will hear their sad yet ultimately joyful stories as they testify to how the love of God has been made known to them through the love of others.
25th October 19.00 Lucy Farrimond is a professional opera soprano and pianist. She will accompany herself as she sings a broad assortment of songs from Old English and Scottish traditional songs as well as some operatic pieces. She will also give us an insight into the nature of life as a professional singer so this is one not to be missed.
